Technique Tuesday for August

Hey there, you fabulous arty peeps.

Thanks for seeking out this blog post that accompanies my Technique Tuesday broadcast, it is always very much appreciated to have your support. Would you be kind enough to do me a favour this month too? I need to spread the word about what I do a little further and so, think of a couple of art-minded friends and if you wouldn’t mind, send them the link to this blog as the more people that know about me, the better our community can be.

I wanted to talk about painting on location this month, something that scares a lot of painters as they feel exposed, not just to the elements but to the gaze of other people and the fear that their skills might be judged in some way. I’ll let you into a secret, as the wonderful actor Morgan Freeman once said ‘Never accept criticism from anyone to whom you would not go for advice’ and I try to live my painting life by this. I tend to find that those who know how tough painting on location can be will only ever offer encouragement, anyone else isn’t worth your precious time.

It might be that you simply can’t get to a location, so why should you miss out on painting a landscape? There are different mind-sets that can be employed and in this month’s broadcast, I try to help you with thinking about them.

As you will see the prompt of the month is my beloved home county of Dorset and you will need to watch the broadcast AND keep your eyes peeled on my socials for news of an exciting Dorset based project that I have planned for the next twelve months.

Keep in touch, drop me a comment below if you need my help and tag me @aliboardartist in anything you share on social media so I can be impressed by your recent creations, Take care, Ali
